Use this screen to configure the Storewide tax table data for computing taxes. The actual tax method is determined on a product-by-product basis in the product link or by the storewide tax settings you specify in the SalesCart wizard. What you are setting here is the numeric tax amount for the location if that is the method of taxation you defined previously. SalesCart PRO has the ability to specify an individual 3rd tier tax amount on each product and to disable storewide tax settings. If you have PRO configured in this manner, the value here will not be used for anything.

To configure Taxes from the Order Management Menu, click on Store Administration>>Configure Taxes. The Configure Taxes screen should appear.

Basically, configuring taxes is broken down in to three different operations for each Tax tier. SalesCart provides for 2-tier taxation storewide and PRO provides for a 3rd tier on each product. First, if a tax rate is already defined, you may simply change it by specifying the new tax rate and clicking on Edit, or by selecting the Remove Taxes button if you wish to remove that particular tax rate. Just below the Current Tax setting for each tier is where you can select a new state location via a drop down list from those already defined and available. Specify the location from the drop down list and also a tax rate and press the Activate button to add this to an active tax rate. If the drop down list does not contain a location that you want to have, you need to define a new Tax Locale as defined next.

At the bottom of the Tax screen, you will see a place labeled Define a new Tax Setting. This is for defining a completely new tax tier location or locale which does not already appear in the drop down list of currently available tax location. Simply specify the values and click on the Add Button. Use the Country/County tax or State/Province tax Add button for the appropriate type of tax. The Long Name is simply the longer version of the abbreviated name.
